jet lag and other musings

After getting back from dinner last night I got ready for bed, tinkered with this blog a bit and then crawled into bed. The phone rang (I swear the ring here sounds like a mosquito if one made sounds). It was Lori who called to plan out our week. I also had to thank her for setting up and delivering my meishi (business cards) to my hotel. Everyone had "meishi envy" as I received a package along with my room key when we checked in. Was it Garth Brooks who sang "Ive got friends in high places?"....oh my I'm delirious. It's 4 am here and we had been warned that we would probably wake up around this time. We have a full day of sightseeing (imagine all 160 of us being herded through the Imperial Palace), a Welcome Reception tonight and then I'm meeting up with Lori later tonight. It's such a relief to have a Japanese expert at my disposal. And speaking of disposal, here is a picture of the high-tech toilet in my room. The seat is heated (why didn't we think of that) and you can change the amount of water it uses to flush. I've hear that some play sounds to mask other sounds, but I haven't found that option on mine.

Rebecca
Julie sent me the link to your blog. Hope you are having a great time! Now, what is the "shower" button on the commode? Is that the "flush" to us Americans?

Dear Ms. Rebecca Iuka,

I'm your friend, Lori's boss in Japan. My name is Yoshi Kasahara. Thank you so much for the present and your wonderful comments, surprises and photos of Japan.
There are many different things between the US and Japan. Lori always told me interesting things happened to you. I hope you had a good time in Japan.
